A mother of two is dead following a shooting that took place inside a Mississippi McDonaldâs.
Kianna Jackson, 25, of Pearl, Miss., was shot and killed in an apparent domestic incident in Brandon â located about 10 miles outside of Jackson â on Monday, June 16, according to WJTV and WAPT.
Jhonterryes Dampier, 27, allegedly opened fire inside the fast food restaurant, located on the cityâs Stribling Lane, just before 7 p.m. local time, the outlets reported.
Brandon Police Chief Joseph French told WJTV and WAPT that officers arrived on the scene to find that Jackson had been killed by an apparent gunshot wound and Dampier, of Mendenhall, Miss., had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Immediately after the shooting, Dampier was transported to a local hospital, but he later died from his injuries days later on Wednesday, June 18, per WJTV.
Jackson and Dampier are believed to have shared two children together, according to the Daily Mail.
âOur prayers go out to everyone connected to those involved,â the politician added.
Jacksonâs family has since started a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses and to support her children after the shooting.
The fundraising page described the 25-year-old as âa cherished mother thatâs leaving behind two beautiful children, a daughter, 5, and a son, 3 years of age.â
âShe also was a beloved daughter, sister and friend,â continues the description on the GoFundMe, which has raised over $15,000 towards a $22,000 goal as of the evening of Sunday, June 22.
Speaking with WJTV after the shooting, Brandon Mayor Butch Lee said, âThis was a horrible incident. Itâs even more tragic when a domestic situation like this happens in front of children.â
