Dermal fillers have skyrocketed in popularity as a go-to solution for wrinkles and facial contouring. But Beverly Hills reconstructive surgeon Dr. Kami Parsa warns they may cause long-term, irreversible damage beneath the skin—especially with repeated use. In a viral TikTok video, he cautions, “You cannot fill your face to youth.”
Dr. Parsa shared MRI scans of a patient who had multiple filler treatments over six years. Despite claims that fillers dissolve within months, the scans revealed large clumps of filler still present—more than twice the original volume—due to the filler’s water-retaining properties. This buildup, he says, can lead to facial distortion and “pillow face.”
“Pillow face” is a bloated, unnatural look caused by excess or poorly spaced filler sessions. Skin can stretch over time, and overcorrection only makes it worse. Parsa urges patients to approach fillers with caution: use less, wait between treatments, and consult skilled professionals focused on long-term results.
The reaction online has been intense, with many sharing regrets and reconsidering future treatments. Dr. Parsa’s message is clear—fillers are not without risks. A youthful appearance shouldn’t come at the cost of permanent facial changes.
