Marjorie Taylor Greene told a reporter to ‘go back to her own country’ in a heated exchange in March 26.
The Georgia congresswoman blew up during a tense press exchange with Sky News correspondent Martha Kelner.
The reporter asked Greene about the scandal involving US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s and his involvement in the Signal group chat blunder.
Before she could complete the question however, Green interrupted her by asking “What country are you from?” to which Kelner said she was from the UK. Green hit back with “We don’t give a cr*p about your opinion and your reporting.
“Why don’t you go back to your country, where you have a major migrant problem? You should care about your own borders,” she said.
The journalist pushed further by asking if Greene cared about American lives being at risk due to the blunder. Greene avoided answering the question and instead went into another tirade: “Let me tell you something – do you care about people from your country? What about all the women that are r*ped by migrants? You’re done. I don’t care about your fake news.”
She asked if a US reported had “a relevant question” to which he repeated the same question that Kelner had asked causing the 50-year-old to reply: “I’m not answering her question because I don’t care about her network. If you would like to ask, I can answer,”.
Still, avoiding, Greene went on another tirade about the Biden administration: “You should talk about the Biden administration and how they ripped our borders open to terrorists, cartel, child s*x trafficking, human trafficking, and drug trafficking across our borders for four years.
“The Trump administration is doing a great job, and I stand by their statements,” she continued. “My comment to you is I’m thankful to President Trump, that he is leading us out of wars, that he’s ending the war in Ukraine where American lives could have been killed if Joe Biden was still President today, whether he liked it or not.”
“We’re talking about NPR and PBS today. We’re talking about fake news that was funded with federal funding from American taxpayers.
“That’s what this is about today. Not journalists from the UK that should care about their own country,” she concluded, before quickly walking away.
Kelner later spoke on Sky News, revealing that Grene relies on a “a strategy of discredit, distract, and deny” when “confronted by crisis like this”.
“She is an absolute master of it,” Kelner said. “This is not just something that Marjorie Taylor Greene is saying, this is what Team Trump is doing as a whole when they’re reacting to this fiasco that’s unfolding. They’re casting the villain of this piece as the journalist at the center of it,” Kelner continued.
